Adding Sitemap To A Blogger Website

Earlier, I have posted how to create your own Blogger Template. Now, it is time to spread your blog.

Sitemap helps your blog to be indexed by Google. It will keep your blog moving upwards in Google Search. However, Sitemap is not the only solution, but it is one of the important things that you should do if you want to make your blog - search optimised.

If you have a static web page, it is very easy to upload a sitemap.xml file by generating it online, but for blogger the way is a bit different.

In order to do it, you have to first log in to your blogger console and go to Settings > Search Preferences, and you will see the "Crawlers and Indexing Section". (Screenshot below)

Go to the "Edit" link of Google Search Console and create your account.

Now go to the next link, i.e. "Custom robots.txt" and click on "Edit". If you have problem in finding it, find the screenshot below :

Now, in the text box paste the following text :
User-agent: *
Disallow: /search
Allow: /
Sitemap: http://<YOUR-WEBSITE-URL-INCLUDING-WWW>/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

Make sure you put your website url in the proper place
Click "Save" and open a new tab in your web browser and try "http://<YOUR-WEBSITE-URL-INCLUDING-WWW>/sitemap.xml" ... If you get to see some xml content, it is working.

Also, you will soon see the result in the "Google Search Console" also.
